OREGON WHITE OAK

Quality starts in the forest, where only trees that meet our demanding specification are selected.
The ample rains of Western Oregon help soften the tannins and accent the natural sweetness of the oak. Similar climatic conditions that allow the production of high-quality Vinifera grape varieties also yield oaks that are similar to those of France. Studies confirm that the chemical makeup of Oregon White Oak (Quercus garryana) is quite distinct from American White Oak (Q. alba), displaying characteristics more closely matched to species used for barrel production in France (Q. petraea).
To achieve these results, Oregon Barrel Works hand splits staves in the traditional French method and air dries the wood for a minimum of three years to ensure proper seasoning.

FRENCH OAK

We work with the top lumber brokers in Europe to secure exceptional oak from a variety of the most desirable French forests. The wood is air-dried, cut into staves, and coopered on-site at our facility in McMinnville. Produced under the name Tonnelliere deFerrari, our barrels exude old world quality and are suited to premium beverage production.

DOUGLAS FIR

We source choice Douglas Fir from select sites, grown at altitude, in the Coast Range of the Pacific Northwest. The staves are long, knot-free and ideal for washback tanks in fine whiskey production.
